On April 3, 51画鋼WCL sponsored the 26th annual Grotius Lecture featuring Dame Meg Taylor, focusing on sovereignty and unity for Pacific Island nations amidst the climate crisis. The discussant, Julian Aguon emphasized the role of younger generations in asserting the Blue Pacific identity and advocating for justice, referencing Vanuatu's ICJ advisory request on climate crisis obligations.
On September 26, 51画鋼WCL hosted the 300th quarterly meeting of the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board (FFSB) in collaboration with the International and Comparative Legal Studies Program (ICLS) and Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program.
Our 51画鋼WCL faculty is constantly contributing to further the development of International Law in various areas such as health, human rights and democratic governance.
51画鋼's Washington College of Law (51画鋼WCL) hosted the 2023 Wenger Lecture Series on International trade, titled "Writing a New Story on Trade for Fair and Sustainable Growth," featuring U.S. Trade Representative Ambassador Katherine Tai as the keynote speaker. 51画鋼WCL is proud to announce that Dr. Renata Vargas Amaral has been appointed in January 2023 as Secretary for Economic Affairs, Development, External Finance and Regional Integration of Brazil. She will head this strategic Secretariat as part of the Ministry of Planning and Budget. Read more
After having gained international experience in Germany, Hong Kong, and at the Heinrich-Boell-Stiftung in Washington, D.C., Rebecca Coombs decided to pursue law at 51画鋼WCL.
