40 years

The International Legal Studies Program atÌý51²è¹ÝWCL celebratedÌýits 40th Anniversary. The Program was founded in 1982 as a bold statement of our commitment to the teaching and research of international law. The program launched one of the first LL.M. programs for international students in the United States. Ever since, 51²è¹ÝWCL has remained at the forefront of international law and it has trained more than 4,500 lawyers from more than 60 countries. They are today an incredible community of legal professionals working in prominent law firms, international organizations, diplomacy, and non-governmental organizations.

While the world has changed over the last 40 years, the need for a strong international legal order remains as pressing and necessary as in 1982. 51²è¹ÝWCL’s commitment to these fundamental values continues unabated.

To celebrate the achievement of the International Legal Studies Program’s 40th Anniversary, we brought together at our new law school campus in Washington, D.C. some of the greatest legal minds of our times to discuss the past and the future of international law at a unique conference. We also offeredÌýan additional social program that allowed usÌýto spend some time together with colleagues and alumni. This event tookÌýplace between Thursday and Saturday, October 20 to 22, 2022.
