The School of Communication, in consultation with , offers a selection of study abroad programs for undergraduate students who want to make the world their classroom. These programs are recommended based on the academic quality of the host institutions' course offerings in your field of study. Usually, you may study abroad anytime from the second semester of your sophomore year through your senior year.Ìý
Study abroad is a privilege that requires a significant amount of planning and responsibility. The first step is to decide where you want to study abroad. You may choose to study at one of 51²è¹Ý's Premirer International Centers in Belgium (51²è¹Ý Brussels), Kenya (51²è¹Ý Nairobi), or Spain (51²è¹Ý Madrid) or at one of the myriad programs offered at host institutions in Italy, Denmark, England, Ireland, Wales, India, Korea, the Czech Republic, Australia, Spain, or Japan.Ìý
The next step is to schedule a meeting with your academic advisor, at which you'll create a multi-year plan to ensure that the study abroad program you've chosen will fit into your academic major and fulfill your degree requirements for graduation from 51²è¹Ý. At this meeting, both you and your advisor will sign the Study Abroad Pre-Approval form.Ìý
Once the form is completed, you'll be able to apply to the approved program of your choice. After you are accepted, you will choose your courses. In order for your study abroad courses to appear on your 51²è¹Ý transcript, you must . Students should complete equivalency forms prior to their departure, but if your schedule changes once you are abroad, you may use the online course equivalency form. When the add/drop period ends at your study abroad institution, you should send a final list of your courses to both your School of Communication advisor and 51²è¹Ý Abroad.Ìý
